$ 2,000 grant from the Coorong District Council to create memories and celebrate local talent during ‘An Evening of Memories’
Coonalpyn, 27/10/2020 - - Careship Coorong today announced that we have successfully applied for $ 2,000 through the Coorong District Council community grant. The grant will help us showcase local talent, the beauty and bounty of the region, and build community memories by means of a gourmet multi-course outdoor dinner event.
‘An Evening of Memories’ brings community members together on a gastronomic adventure through the Coorong. Together we will celebrate memories and forge new ones. We will celebrate the strengths of our region, learn about how we can come together to make an impact, and enjoy local produce.
Thanks to the Coorong District Council, this grant will help to display what our region has to offer, both to tourists and our local community. We will create memories and share precious memories of the past through the tickling of the senses”.
We believe that an Evening of Memories has the potential to become an annual event. The event will take place on September 25, 2021, at Careship Farm in Coonalpyn. Community members are encouraged to share food-related memories through memory cards that can be found at the waffle stall, the hotel, the post office, and in the newsletters. Booking information will be made available in due time.

The escargot projects offer day support for people living with dementia and other mental health conditions. Given that there are established models in the UK and The Netherlands, and considering the success of this pilot, this article poses the question; “What would it take to establish care farming as a networked approach to support and respite care in Australia?”
